Who is Eligible for a Work Permit Exemption?
Individuals eligible for a work permit exemption include:
- Board Members of Joint Stock Companies who do not reside permanently in Turkey.
- Non-executive Partners of Other Types of Companies.
- Cross-border Service Providers who stay in Turkey for no longer than 90 days within a 180-day period.
How to Apply for a Work Permit Exemption
Application Methods:
- In Turkey: Foreigners can apply directly to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MLSS).
- From Abroad: Applications can be made through Turkish embassies or consulates in the applicant's home country or country of legal residence.
- Applications can also be processed through authorized intermediary agencies.
Foreigners Eligible for Work Permit Exemption
Diplomatic Staff
Foreigners working in diplomatic missions, as well as in schools, cultural institutions, and religious institutions associated with foreign countries, can work under a work permit exemption. Additionally:
- Spouses, children, and close relatives defined under bilateral agreements of diplomatic staff such as members of the diplomatic corps or consular officials can work under a standard work permit.
- Foreigners employed in personal service roles for these individuals can work under a work permit exemption.
Foreigners Required to Obtain a Work Permit
Foreigners working in schools, cultural institutions, or religious institutions not directly associated with diplomatic missions, as defined by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (April 18, 1961) and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (April 24, 1963), must obtain a work permit to work in Turkey.
