Types of Turkish Visa - Border Visa
Situations Requiring a Border Visa
According to Article 15 of the Implementation Regulation, certain situations necessitate the issuance of a border visa. These situations include:
- The absence of a Turkish consulate in the foreigner's country or the inability to process visa applications through the consulate.
- Emergency and humanitarian situations involving a foreigner's spouse or relatives in Turkey, such as illness, death, or accidents.
- Foreign nationals classified as inadmissible passengers at the border due to unmet entry requirements, but whose health conditions prevent immediate deportation, requiring temporary stay in Turkey.
- Participation in national or international scientific, economic, cultural, or commercial events as the purpose of the visit.
- Commercial ship crew members who need to transit through Turkey after disembarking.
- Requests from public institutions and organizations for the issuance of visas.
Airport Transit Visa
The validity period for airport transit visas is set as six months from the date of issuance (YUKK Article 14/1). These visas allow for passage through Turkey without staying in the country.
Other Types of Visa
Tourism Visa
Tourism visas are issued to foreigners visiting Turkey for tourism or official visits, business meetings, conferences, seminars, festivals, fairs, exhibitions, sports events, or cultural and artistic events.
Transit Visa
Transit visas are granted to foreigners who only intend to pass through Turkey. The validity period restarts upon each border entry.
Education Visa
Education visas are issued to foreigners coming to Turkey for education, training, internships, courses, student exchange programs, or Turkish language courses.
Work Visa
Work visas are arranged for foreigners who will be employed in Turkey. Employers must obtain work permits for foreign employees.
Other Visas
Other visas are issued for reasons not listed above, such as archaeological excavations, research, film or documentary shooting, medical treatment, accompaniment, family reunification, humanitarian aid, or transportation.
Visa Conditions and Required Documents
Entry to Turkey is not permitted for individuals without a passport or passport substitute valid for at least 60 days beyond the expiration of their visa, visa exemption, or residence permit.
