Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking
According to Articles 48 and 49 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection (No. 6458), a residence permit for victims of human trafficking is regulated. The regulation is also detailed in Articles 45 and 46 of the Implementing Regulation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
Who Can Obtain a Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking?
Foreign nationals who are determined or suspected to be victims of human trafficking can be issued a residence permit for victims of human trafficking.
Duration of Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking
The residence permit for victims of human trafficking is initially issued for 30 days by the governorates.
- It can be extended for up to six months at a time, but the total period cannot exceed three years.
Requirements for Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking
Unlike other residence permits, the usual requirements do not apply for this type of residence permit.
Reasons for Denial, Cancellation, or Non-Extension of Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking
- Establishing contact with the perpetrators of the crime on their own initiative,
- Failure to comply with the imposed obligations,
- It becomes evident that the foreigner is not a victim.
However, if it is determined that the listed behaviors were due to coercion, intimidation, violence, or threat, the residence permit is not canceled.
