Long-Term Residence Permit in Turkey
The Long-Term Residence Permit is a permanent residence permit granted by the Directorate General of Migration Management to foreigners who have resided in Turkey for at least 8 consecutive years with a residence permit, or who meet other criteria set by the Ministry of Interior’s Migration Policy Board.

Who Can Apply for a Long-Term Residence Permit?
Foreigners who meet the following criteria are eligible:
Residing continuously for at least 8 years in Turkey,
- Student residence periods are counted as half, while other residence permits are counted in full.
- No social assistance received in the last 3 years,
- Having valid health insurance,
- Ability to provide financial proof of self-sufficiency,
- No threat to public safety or order.
How to Apply for a Long-Term Residence Permit?
The application is submitted to the Directorate General of Migration Management, following these steps:
Complete the Application Form:
- The form must be accurately and completely filled out.
Prepare Required Documents:
- Passport and photocopy,
- Previous residence permit documents,
- Valid health insurance,
- Income or financial status certificate,
- Criminal record (if requested).
Submit to Migration Office:
- All documents should be submitted to complete the application.
Who Cannot Apply for a Long-Term Residence Permit?
The following groups are ineligible:
- Refugees,
- Conditional refugees,
- Subsidiary protection status holders,
- Humanitarian residence permit holders,
- Foreigners under temporary protection.

Can a Long-Term Residence Permit Be Canceled?
The permit may be canceled in cases such as:
- The foreigner stays outside Turkey for more than 1 year without interruption,
- Threat to public security or order.
