Foreigners Not Eligible for a Turkish Visa: Restrictions and Requirements
Categories of Foreigners Not Eligible for a Visa
Foreigners with insufficient passport validity: If the passport or equivalent document’s validity is not at least 60 days longer than the requested visa duration, the foreigner is not eligible for a visa (YUKK Art. 15/1-a).
Foreigners with an entry ban: Foreigners with a ban on entering Turkey cannot receive a visa. The entry ban can be imposed for up to five years, but it can be extended by an additional 10 years if deemed a threat to public order or security.
Special permits by the Directorate General of Migration Management: The Directorate General of Migration Management can lift the entry ban or allow entry without lifting the ban.
Foreigners with expired visas or residence permits: If a foreigner's visa or residence permit has expired, and they wish to leave Turkey before authorities detect this status, they may not be subject to an entry ban, provided they pay administrative fines and do not exceed the violation duration set by the Ministry.
Start date of the entry ban: The entry ban starts from the date the foreigner departs from Turkey.
Foreigners Deemed Harmful to Public Order and Security
Foreigners considered a threat to public order or security: Foreigners who are deemed to threaten public order or public security will not be granted a visa.
Foreigners carrying diseases considered a public health threat: Foreigners with diseases that are classified as a public health threat are also not eligible for a visa.
Criminals, Health Insurance Deficiencies, and Financial Insufficiency
Foreigners accused or convicted of extraditable offenses: Those accused of or convicted of offenses warranting extradition cannot be granted a visa.
Foreigners lacking valid health insurance: Foreigners must have valid health insurance covering their stay. Travel health insurance is mandatory for entering Turkey. The insurance coverage starts when the foreigner’s entry is recorded by passport control and ends upon departure.
Foreigners Unable to Justify Entry Purpose or Financial Means
Foreigners unable to justify the purpose of entry, transit, or stay in Turkey: Those unable to provide sufficient documentation to support their stated purpose for entering Turkey will be denied a visa.
Foreigners lacking sufficient and regular financial means: Foreigners unable to demonstrate sufficient and regular financial means for their stay in Turkey will not be granted a visa.
Foreigners refusing to pay debts or fines: Foreigners who refuse to pay their debts or fines are not eligible for a visa.
